Michelle K
Mahan is Vice President of Smart Management
Solutions! A graduate of the University of
Southern California with a Bachelor of Science (BSc)
in Business Administration and a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA) Ms. Mahan has over 25 years of
experience in both business development and
financial management for small and medium size
businesses. Ms. Mahan has served as the Chief
Financial Officer for two major medical centers in
the Mid-Atlantic region. She has also been a
consultant for Ernst & Young as well as President of
a financial online services company.
In Ms. Mahan’s
many consulting projects she has noted several
instances where the financial issues facing small
and medium sized companies had their genesis in the
individual leadership gaps of key employees. It
most cases the business proposition was viable,
however the individual skills of the key managers
needed to be strengthened in order to improve their
effectiveness and the company’s performance.
The above can also be true for larger
medical center clients, where hiring mistakes may
cost the organization significantly. Weak
leadership, inability to function in teams, diluted
focus and lack of measurable outcomes has
significant performance impact for these
organizations. As these expenses easily represent
over 60 percent of most medical center’s budgets,
Ms. Mahan’s role in organizational assessments is a
critical component to the success of businesses
utilizing the Smart Management Solutions!
approach to employee and leadership development.
